1967 Kit Companion 15' camper travel trailer
ok, so I was looking around on craigslist (why would I be doing that ~ don't I already have a camper?? and yet...) ~ there I was, looking around, & I found a SWEET deal ~ it's a 1967 Kit Companion camper travel trailer, 15', & in almost perfect vintage condition! This came with papers, clear title, & even an old box with a silk mantle in it for the gas light!
So yah ~ I had to get it.
Here are some pictures of her, before I have done anything. My plan is to cover the upholstery with a red plaid fabric, paint the interior all white, & do a red trim around the routered edge on the drawer & door faces. I'm going to decorate her up with some fish, too. I have a gorgeous rusty red ceramic fish that I will mount & then I also have a cool old fish jello mold that I will hang up as well. Plus, I have some cute old dish towels & such. That's my plans, anyway. Then I think I'll sell her & make a little money for my daughter's mission.
Oh, and tony will take care of a window flashing, some trim pieces, and re-butyl taping the j rails, so she's tight. And fix a few drawer fronts. And that, folks, is all she needs! Can you believe it?
So, you might ask ~ why not keep that one, & just sell the Lo Liner? weeellll ~
Because the Lo Liner is a better quality trailer, even though it's not in quite as good of shape ~ & the Lo Liner also is lower profile, has more interior space, & is much lighter to tow.
And I like the lines better on the Lo Liner. I guess I bonded with it better. :-D
But I digress ~ here are the pictures of the Kit Companion.

Not bad, needs a wash.
That hatch will have to have a skin put on it ~ who knows what happened to the original?
This window needs the arm put back into it, & we found the arm in a drawer!
Just a close-up of the hatch. It's also a keyed lock, with no key, so we will have to take it off to remove the hatch door.
A light needs replaced here.
This has the light, but it was loose, & we didn't want it to come off during travel.
Part of the support arm is missing on the rock guard, & the fiberglass part of the rock guard is dinged.
Nice little badges still intact.
Corner, front passenger side.
Corner front driver's side.
wall seams in excellent condition
more walls seams ~ very good condition
inside cupboards ~ excellent condition on the seams
around the roof vent ~ previous owner said it started to leak last year, but he duct taped it shut. That is true, & we will have to remove the duct tape & re-butyl around it. At least he didn't let it continue to leak, however.
Corner rear passenger side ~ a small amount of leak damage.
Corner, rear driver's side ~ no damage, excellent shape
A split in the wood paneling eight here, which the previous owner said is from his son kicking around up there ~ this appeared to be true, because the kid verified that he had gotten in trouble for it. :-D
Reading light rear passenger side, under the bunk ( above couch/bed)
will need to find a shade for this
Wood paneling is in very good shape
Furnace door ~ this is the ugliest thing on this trailer ~ not sure why, either ~ maybe someone was cooking something in the oven & had an accident, & spilled. (wait till you see the oven, you will believe that theory :-D )
Some rubbing on the wood paneling here ~
trying to get a picture, but fluffed up some dust ~ cushions DEFINITELY need covered
bunk & back couch/bed ~ it's a good set-up.
uggh ~ those cushions ~ see the rubber stuff in the window is coming out ~ this will need some attention.
Closet & drawers ~ a nice set-up but it's not big enough to stow a porta potty ~ of course, I think the couch is high enough that you could stow a potty underneath it, when it's pulled out into bed position, so there's that.
ivory Holiday stove & oven
Nice enameled ivory sink & water pump faucet ~ gaslight (came with a box that has a mantle for it!)
Cute matchbox holder ~ I might keep that for my Lo Liner.
It's gonna need a scrub by that gaslight.
icebox is nice & ivory, cutting board is same laminate that the counter & table are.
with curtains removed ~ cute vintage light fixture
Plug in ~ also, bit of cabinet trim came off ~ but it's there, just needs tacked back on
lighter plug for charging cell phones & tablets, etc.
grounded connection inside
That's going to need a wash
gas light close up, vent opens & closes
inside cupboard over oven, I think it's the shut-off
Power grid diagram on inside of cupboard door over oven
Code of Ethics for travel trailer owners ~ really cute, pasted to inside of short closet door
Thoughts, comments & tips for travel trailer owners ~ also realy cute & handy, pasted to inside of longer closet door
inside closet ~ sticker packet inside closet
other side of closet inside
cute towel racks
and the really snasty inside of the oven ~ the only disgusting thing about this whole trailer!
